Elbow Bones and the Racketeers was an American big band-era styled male/female vocal group, created by August Darnell aka Kid Creole. They are best known for this hit single which reached No.33 in the UK singles chart in early 1984. It was written by Ron Rogers and Deborah Clarkin and featured the vocals of Stephanie Fuller.

Originally From Ely, Cambridgeshire and originally named the Kreed, the band changed their name to the Look when they moved to London. Their 1980 debut single, 'I Am the Beat' was a top 10 hit, peaking at No. 6 in the UK singles chart. The band line-up consisted of Jonny Whetstone, Gus Goad, Mick Bass and Trevor Walter.

Written by Clint Ballard Jr and first performed by Dee Dee Warwick in 1963 with production by Jerry Lieber and Mike Stoller. 'You're No Good' has been covered many times and Linda Ronstadt's version in 1974, was a No.1 hit on Billboards' Hot 100, her only song to reach that position in her 46 year recording career. A song written by the legendary Motown songwriting/production team of Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier and Eddie Holland and originally recorded in 1965 by Kim Weston. The Doobie Brothers version was recorded a decade later for their album 'Stampede'. It reached No.11 in the US Billboard singles chart and No.29 in the UK singles chart. The Larsen-Feiten Band was Neil Larsen and Buzz Feiten who released just the one album back in 1980 on Warner Records. Three singles were lifted from the LP of which 'Who'll Be the Fool Tonight' was the only hit, peaking at #29 on the US Billboard Hot 100. With thanks to brother Brian Mac for this week's ownership of this particular guilty pleasure.

Released in April 1976 and written by group member Bill Danoff, who also wrote multiple hits for John Denver including 'Take Me Home, Country Roads'. Starland Vocal Band also had Taffy Nivert, Jon Carroll and Margot Chapman in the line-up. The song reached No.1 in the US and No.18 in the UK. In 2010, Billboard magazine named it the 20th sexiest song of all time... who knew? Many thanks to all round good guy Scouser Paul for this confessional.

This week's 'fess up' is shared by DJ Keith Menezes and what Keith don't know about music ain't worth knowing! 'For What It's Worth' was released at the end of 1966 and written by US musician, singer and songwriter Stephen Stills (of Crosby, Stills and Nash),. It is often considered an anti-war song and reached top 10 in the US and Canada, but surprisingly has never charted in the UK.

The one and only hit single from UK disco artist Dan-I (born in 1951 Jamaica as Selmore Ezekiel Lewinson), 'Monkey Chop' was released in 1979 on the mighty Island Records. It charted in the UK top 30, as well as in countries like Sweden, Italy and New Zealand. This confessional comes courtesy of UK midlands DJ and promoter, brother Mark Goddard.

Released in 1975 on EMI Records, this was the lead single from the band's third studio album ‘ The Best Years Of Our Lives’. ’Come Up & See Me’ spent 9 weeks in the Top 50 of the UK singles chart, and has sold well over 1.5 million copies worldwide. This week's 'fess up' is from long time parishioner Linda Tomlinson who's loved this song since she was a kid... Taken from David Cassidy's 5th studio LP 'The Higher They Climb', (RCA Records, 1975), 'Get It Up For Love' was written by singer/songwriter Ned Doheny but never released as a single for the late US actor/singer. It was however, later covered by the likes of Tata Vega and the Average White Band.

Our latest confessionals been owned up to by sister Ellie Jayne, who had the courage to choose this 'futuristic' offering from The RAH Band. Released in April 1985 and written by Richard Anthony Hewson (The R-A-H in the name) with vocals by his wife Liz, the track went top 50 in Europe, peaking at No.6 in the UK singles chart.

This week's confessional comes courtesy of another long standing congregational member, Soulpower Radio's Bill Griffin who's picked The Alessi Brothers. Billy and Bobby Alessi were Long Island born, pop rockers releasing this, their biggest hit in 1977. It reached no.8 in the UK and gained top 10 status in 17 other countries.

Who doesn't own up to liking a bit of Elvis now and then, 'Return To Sender' featured in the film 'Girls Girls Girls!' and was written by Winfield Scott & Otis Blackwell to suit Presley's successful rock'n'roll musical style. It reached No.1 in the UK and No.2 in the USA.

UK singer/songwriter Mika released 'Grace Kelly' as the lead single from his debut studio album 'Life In Cartoon Motion' in 2007. After the band split in 1971, he went on to enjoy a successful solo career with songs like 'Baker Street', 'Right Down The Line' & this 1978 hit, 'Get It Right Next Time', taken from the LP 'Night Owl'.

'Scorpio Rising' the title track of their third album released in 2002 features guest vocalist Liam Gallagher, whose raspy tones ride over the main riff from Status Quo's 'Pictures Of Matchstick Men'.
